WHY HARRIER?

With a background in photography and digital marketing we understand what works well for your promotions and, along with years of drone-flying experience, we have the ability to get you those perfect aerial images and video. And we’ll collaborate with you to post process everything to your specifications.

You might not need something creative, just some crystal clear aerial photos or video to document the condition of a roof, construction project or anything else in a hard to reach place. We have the equipment, training and technical ability to deliver what you need. And at a fraction of the price of scaffolding or a “cherry-picker”!

Since regulations changed in January 2021, a specific permission from the Civil Aviation Authority is no longer needed for commercial drone use. While this technically means that anyone with a drone can offer their services, there are several reasons you should only commission a CAA-approved (PfCO or GVC) company like Harrier to take your aerial footage:

  • Safety – At Harrier, we’ve undertaken (and been tested on) extensive theory & practical training – we know what is and, more importantly, isn’t possible to safely achieve with a drone.
  • Insurance – If you hire someone without the required third-party liability insurance, the liability falls on you! Our insurance through Coverdrone is fully compliant with EC 785/2004 and provides liability insurance up to £5,000,000.
  • Privacy – A drone equipped with a camera has the potential to be covered by the GDPR. So operators need to be aware of data protection obligations. We fully comply with the Data Protection Code of Practice for Surveillance Cameras and Personal Information

Once we’ve captured some amazing images or video for you, you’ll want to maximise their impact online. Whether it’s for your website or social media, we have the experience to help.

SAFETY

Harrier holds a valid Permission for Commercial Operations issued by the Civil Aviation Authority. This means our operators have all undertaken extensive training to be able to fly our drones safely and also allows us to operate in congested areas and at night.

Before quoting for a project we research and perform a thorough risk assessment of the location to ensure the shoot can be carried out safely and legally.

On site, in addition to another risk assessment, we carry out pre, between and post flight checks and continually maintain situational awareness during flight.

If, at any time, safety isn’t assured, we immediately move to our landing or emergency procedures.

All our safety measures can be found in our Operations Manual.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Our operators have all passed an OFQUAL Level 4 accredited PfCO course consisting of a flight assessment after a theory test covering:

  • Airmanship & Aviation Safety
  • Air Law, Regulations & Responsibilities
  • Airspace Operating Principles
  • Meteorology
  • Navigation & Charts
  • Aircraft Knowledge
  • Operating Procedures
  • Human Performance Limitations

Our PfCO has been issued by the CAA upon successful submission of our Operations Manual, setting out our safety policy, organisation & operating procedures.

POST-PRODUCTION

We always ensure we’re using the correct settings to get the best possible aerial photos and video straight from the camera. Often this is perfect for your needs but sometimes you want a little something extra.

With images, there may be elements that need to be removed or pixellated for privacy reasons. Or perhaps you want your photos to be styled in a specific way to match your website’s style?

With video, you may want your footage colour-graded for a certain look. If it’s for promotional use, you might want us to add titles, special effects, transitions, sounds, music, etc. Using state of the art hardware & software, we’re able to do that and much more.

It doesn’t even have to be video that we’ve shot! We’re happy to create promotional videos using your own footage or combining it with some stunning aerial shots.

Let your imagination take flight and let us make your imagination a reality.
